... Youth are not in the BOX yet.        Peace comes from within – you must walk the talk.         Education is peace in a minority.         It is not your life; it is the rest of your life that is being asked of you to give.         Whatever is done needs to be done from the heart.        Youth are ‘go getters.’         It’s cool to care. ... • Session 1C : Stock Market Simulation Roundtable

The Model Development is a simulation (role playing) of the work done jointly by a variety of actors—including policy makers, private sector, international agencies, donors, and civil society—during the preparation and implementation of strategies to reduce poverty at the country level. The objective of this simulation is for participants to come up with a series of measures and actions for a poor country to come out of poverty. The Model Development simulates the challenges and hurdles of negotiating and making decisions under specific country conditions and under financial and institutional constraints (limited total assistance envelope; international and internal political decisions; etc.). In practicing the Model Development, participants step themselves into the shoes of various stakeholders involved in the preparation of country specific interventions (playing for example the role of a Finance Minister, or a World Bank Country Director, etc.) to confront their views in an entertaining way and reach agreements on strategies to reduce poverty. Young people need to get a better knowledge and understanding of processes that affect their life in order to be in a position to contribute more effectively to development processes.
