Peace begins within us, in our ability to understand ourselves and appreciate others. It is a reflection of our thoughts, our words and our actions. It gains sustenance from our capacity to respect diversity, human dignity, and join hands in fulfilling our common aspirations for a better future for all.

The contributions made by youth in the fields of peace have helped to change the way we look at young people in our societies. In all parts of the world we have witnessed the active roles that they have taken towards infusing the fundamental elements for peace in their communities, changing mind-sets, preventing outbreaks of violence, promoting human rights, and activating the principles of tolerance, respect and cooperation in our daily lives.

• Session 1A : The Power of Youth in Promoting Peace

The first Session in this Forum aims to highlight “The Power of Youth in Promoting Peace” . We invite youth participants to share their stories and experience, to explain why and how they are contributing to the cause of peace, what the obstacles they have encountered are and how they believe they can strengthen their impact as change-makers.

• Session 3A : Is the Media Youth Friendly?

The second session, entitled “Is the Media Youth Friendly” will help to uncover, from a youth perspective, the relationship between youth and the media. It will also examine how young people are utilizing the Media in breaking down bias’s and prejudice, diffusing tensions and helping to foster a global culture of peace.
