Mayerly Sanchez is a peace activist and volunteer from Colombia. At the young age of 12, inspired by the violent death of her close friend Milton, Mayerly established the Colombian Children’s Movement for Peace. The Movement aims to provide children with the resources to promote non violence among their peers. Mayerly and her movement were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1998. She is currently involved with World Vision for Children. “We wanted to find our own solutions so we created a movement over the entire country for children who support peace and are opposed to violence.”
