Mr. Ogi is the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace, and is the Former President of Switzerland. Over the past six years, Mr. Ogi has represented the Secretary-General at numerous international sports events and has launched and supported numerous initiatives promoting development and peace through sport throughout the world. He has called upon sports organizations and international federations as well as sports industries to support the United Nations in the achievement of its objectives. The responses have been positive and constructive. Development projects have been implemented and the role of sport for development further promoted and better understood. Born in 1942 in Kandersteg near Bern, Mr. Ogi followed a course of Business Studies in his country and then in England.
